My Vision For Philadelphia
My Vision for Philadelphia
My name is Daniel Orsino, but many people just call me Duke. I am a blue-collar worker and
a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and I am running for Philadelphia’s First District
City Council Seat. To bring real change to the City of Philadelphia we need people in office that know the real needs of our communities.
Amid the high number of HIV and AIDS cases in the City of Philadelphia, I want to bring a
real solution to the ongoing crisis and provide for a real cost-effective solution and for the
well-being of those who need treatment.
No New Taxes
I am a firm believer that people should not be taxed into poverty. Part of my plan includes
the elimination of wage taxes to people who are struggling to earn their daily living. I will
work to eliminate the wage tax for those earning less than $50,000 a year, to school
teachers from pre-k to 12th grade, and to first responders.
Furthermore, I want to remove the unfair “Soda Tax” which impoverish small business
owners and negatively impacts labor unions. This tax disproportionately affects our
community’s poorest members.
Support Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses
Building off of some successful similar programs in parts of the city I would create a free-
of-charge program serving the First District that would help members of the community
learn on how to start a business, sustain it, and have it thrive.
We need to have School Board reform! Philadelphia is one of the few major cities in North America that has an appointed School Board. It’s time the people get to decide who runs
their school system!
With your vote, we can achieve this and more! Join our movement! and let's fix Philly!
As Philadelphians we need to stand together!
